Beautiful but Brutal! 😅 | Temple Newsam Parkrun POV Experience

This week's parkrun story comes from Temple Newsam, a tough but great run in the Leeds area.

There's a few guys who travelled the UK doing parkruns and they described this is one of the tougher ones and they aren't wrong - if that's what they did say, this is what one of the marshals told me. The course is an undulating two-lap course around the Temple Newsam estate with the second lap ending taking you past the pond and offers lovely scenery - there is a long uphill section to finish off the first lap, but you'll be happy to know you only do it once (which is enough!). It's slightly more than 5k run and is a challenge, but certainly worth doing. There's street parking nearby, which does get busy fairly quickly, and a public car park (paid) right next to it too. PLUS there's a coffee shop and toilets onsite too.

On to the race, I did manage a lot better than I have previously, with a time of 26:10, getting a location PB and a top 10 for my age category too BUT I, annoyingly, didn't start my watch and only noticed about a quarter of a km in. However, all in all in, it was a good run out

A little about me. I have been running, or taking it seriously, for about 18 months now. The aim really was to aid with my mental health and I must admit I am loving it. Since turning 40 I have found myself doing more parkruns, more medal races and more walks so I decided to buy a GoPro, along with a Garmin watch, and record them and make them into a YouTube video(s). I don't plan to commentate on them, it's more to give folk an idea of what the course is like beforehand. Hopefully, these videos will also give you some parkrun ideas.
