Spiritualise Your Kitchen:
Today food is mainly prepared in a modern way. But if we add a bit of traditional style and a bit of positive energy and vibrations to it, it not only enriches the food, but also the persons having it and thereby creating positivity of body and mind.
Let us welcome the cooking expert for today, Dr. Archana and know a few more aspects of this.
Dr. Archana says that she keeps in her mind that food is not just for the body. It is for the mind too. Just like nutritious food is beneficial for the body, good positive thoughts are beneficial for the mind. Even better is to remember the Supreme Soul while cooking so that the mind is free from all negativities.
The recipes for today are as follows:
1. Sambhar
Ingredients:
1. Split pigeon peas – ½ Cup washed and soaked for ½ an hour
2. Bottle gourd – 1 small
3. Drumstick – 2
4. Brinjal – 1 Small, cut into cubes
5. Pumpkin – 1 small cut into cubes
6. Sambhar powder – 2 big spoons
7. Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon
8. Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
9. Red Chilli – 2
10. Curry leaves – 15 to 20
11. Salt – As per taste
12. Tamarind paste – As per taste
Method:
1. Add the dal and vegetables together along with 3 cups water in a pressure cooker.
2. Add turmeric, sambhar powder and salt as per taste.
3. Cook for 3 whistles.
4. Heat oil in a frying pan and splutter mustard seeds, dry red chilli and curry leaves.
5. Add the cooked sambhar to the pan.
6. Add the tamarind paste to it.
7. Water can be added if the sambhar is too thick.
8. Boil for 2 minutes.
9. Sambhar is ready.
2. Potato Masala
Ingredients:
1. Potato – 1 cut into cubes
2. Tomatoes – 2 Cut into cubes
3. Green Chilli – 2
4. Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon
5. Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
6. Curry leaves – 15 to 20
7. Salt – As per taste
Method:
1. Heat oil in a frying pan and splutter the mustard seeds.
2. Add the green chilli split into half.
3. Add curry leaves and stir.
4. Add the turmeric.
5. Add chopped tomatoes and salt. Stir.
6. When the tomatoes are cooked, add the potatoes, mix and cook well.
7. Cover and cook till the potatoes are soft.
8. Gently smash and mix well.
9. Potato Masalais ready.
3. Dosa
Ingredients:
1. Dosa Rice –3 Cups
2. Split and peeled Black Gram – 1 Cup
3. Salt – As per taste
Method:
1. Wash and soak the rice and dal separately overnight.
2. Grind to a medium runny consistency and keep for fermentation for 5-6 hours.
3. Add salt and mix well.
4. On a non-stick tawa, add a big spoonful of batter and spread evenly. Cook till golden brown.
5. Dosa is ready and can be served with chutney, sambhar and dry potato masala.
Dr. Archana performs every task, considering it to be a service. That takes away the attachments from it and the task can be completed with a lot of love. On the other hand, if it is considered a job, then the whole inner potential is not used.
