Game-Changing Updates for Facebook and Instagram Shops!

If you have a Facebook and Instagram shop you need to be paying attention to the latest changes.
Meta sent out an email... but it's vague, so I've dug in to find out more details!
These changes are huge...
My takeaways are that FB is going all in on shops with checkout on FB/Insta. In the US they will be pretty much switching off shops on 24 April 2024 who don't use it.
For now UK and 20 other countries still have shops, but a simplified version - they are removing storefronts, wishlists (which I seem to have missed anyway!) and collections. Once they are happy with how the US is working... they will roll out the same elsewhere - which will mean they only want shops which check out on FB/Insta unless you are omnichannel or subscription.
They still are physical products only as far as I can see, as they don't mention offering digital products.
So my advice is, if you use an FB/Insta shop and have ZERO interest in FB/Insta checkout then stop worrying about it... at some point (it could be 5 years from now!!!) it will stop working. For now you can still product tag…
If you want to use the FB/Insta checkout - I think they'll push organically for a while and then drop the reach to encourage Advantage+ use (ad spend!) - then keep paying attention.
Interesting take is - they are still mentioning REELS A LOT!!! Not pages or groups!!
