La Selva Morale e Spirituale (literally Moral and Spiritual Forest) is a splendid collection of sacred works by Monteverdi published in 1640, a veritable anthology of masterpieces on a par with the famous Vespers published in 1610. At the end of his life (74 years old), Monteverdi thus delivers his artistic testament for sacred music, in practice the collection of works that he imposed on the Basilica of San Marco in Venice. The main pieces of the abundant liturgy of San Marco are obviously at the heart of the program: Gloria, Salve Regina, Laudate and of course the sumptuous Magnificat! We present here the first part of the high quality work of Michel Corboz and his team.
