On this new episode of the Metallica saga, I delve into the Black Album (my personal favorite of them all). Despite what many may say, the year 1991 saw this genre reach a new level of "soul" materialized in works like this, where all of the elements finally melted together to realize what in plain sight might look like a more polished, sell out version of the band, but in my opinion, a more rooted Metallica. While these roots might be far from the original thrash days, they're closer than ever to their best and most mature musical selves in realizing songwriting through their own version of blues and swing (in a conceptual definition of these terms). This is all a fancy way of saying, they stepped it up in all aspects, not to say that they hadn't in the past.
I recorded all of the guitars on top of the the drums, bass and isolated vocals. Hope you dig!
