Mouryo Senki Madara is a Famicom game released by Konami in 1990. It is based on the manga of the same name. The game centers around a blacksmith's apprentice named Madara. He was found as a baby by his foster grandfather, Tatara. Madara was mutilated when he was a baby, and was outfitted with an artificial body called a Gimmick. He and his foster sister, Kirin, go on a quest to defeat the 8 Mouki Generals, led by his father, Emperor Miroku. Once Madara defeats a Mouki General, he regains a part of his body. The game utilizes the VRC6 chip, which is the same chip used in the Japanese version of Castlevania 3, Akumajou Densetsu. The VRC6 was also used in another game; Esper Dream 2, the sequel to Esper Dream on the Famicom Disk System. The VRC6 chip has 2 square waves with 8 sound modes and one sawtooth wave, in conjunction with the initial NES sound chip, Ricoh 2a03.
