Cute Litrtle Vintage Reel to Reel Tape Recorder!

Here is a cute little vintage reel tape recorder (from the mid 1960's) that has a slight problem. I got it on E-bay for a fair price and it came in it's original Styrofoam package, but NO outer box. The question is:

What is the name of this 3-inch R2R tape recorder? We know it was made in Japan, and it has a model number, but WHO made it? Was it SONY, Akai, Toshiba, Mayfair???

This charming little 3-inch rim-drive reel to reel tape recorder has a very fine appearance (after 50 years it is cosmetically excellent) and it sounds pretty good too!

It is reminiscent of some Mayfair and Pion recorders of the mid 1960's, but it has a unique drive system, one that is very simple and effective in a vintage reel to reel tape recorder.

It arrived in pristine condition from E-Bay and needed a basic cleaning of the drive to get it into fine shape. And the sound and operation are typical of the basic no-frills 3-inch rim-drive reel to reel machines of the 1960's. Useful for some dictation, but with DC bias and a low power amplifier, the sound is nothing exciting.

Still, it looks charming with its black and ivory two tone case and very unique "ball" crystal microphone. I expect that this either was a prototype or a very inexpensive machine that was offered by "5&10 Cent Stores" such as Woolworth, Grants, or Nichols.

It is amazing that this little charming vintage tape recorder has survived in tact, with a functioning drive system, for over 50 years!
