Hello there ! Welcome back to our channel. Paneer Achari isn’t quite an appetizer or snack, but it can definitely be enjoyed in those settings! It’s a delicious vegetarian dish originating in North India. The star is paneer, a soft Indian cheese, cooked in a creamy, flavorful gravy.
The “Achari” part comes from the pickling spices used in the recipe, giving it a tangy and slightly spicy kick. It’s often enjoyed with rice or naan, a type of leavened flatbread.Here’s a delicious and easy Achari Paneer in Yogurt Gravy recipe for you. This dish combines the tangy flavors of Indian pickling spices (achari masala) with the creaminess of yogurt to coat soft paneer cubes. Perfect for a North Indian-style meal!
🌶️ Achari Paneer in Yogurt Gravy
🧂 Ingredients:
For the Paneer Marinade:
250g paneer (cubed)
2-3 TBS thick yogurt (curd or dahi, whisked)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
Salt to taste
For Achari Masala (Pickling Spice Mix):
1/2 tsp fennel seeds (saunf)
1/2 tsp mustard seeds (rai)
1/2 tsp nigella seeds (kalonji)
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1–2 dried red chilies
For the Gravy:
2 tbsp oil (mustard oil preferred for authentic flavor)
1/2 tsp hing (asafoetida)
1 green pepper (diced)
1 tomato (diced)
1 green chili slit(optional)
1 onion(diced)
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
Salt to taste
1/2 cup whisked yogurt
Fresh coriander to garnish
🍳 Instructions:
1. Marinate the Paneer
Mix yogurt, turmeric, chili powder, and salt.
Add paneer cubes and coat well.
Let it sit for 15–20 minutes.
2. Prepare Achari Masala
Dry roast fennel, mustard, cumin, nigella, fenugreek seeds, and red chilies until aromatic.
Cool and grind coarsely. Set aside.
3. Make the Gravy
Garnish with chopped coriander.
Serve hot with roti, naan, or jeera rice.
