In this video, I show you how to turn an old laptop charger into a powerful variable power supply ranging from 1V to 18V! 💡
This DIY project is perfect for anyone working with electronics, Arduino, motors, LEDs, fans, and other low-voltage devices.
🔧 What you’ll learn:
• How to repurpose an old Toshiba charger
• Step-by-step soldering and wiring
• Output voltage control
• Real tests with LED and fan
⚠️ Make sure your charger is at least 12V – 1.5A or higher.
🛠️ Essential Components Used:
✅ Old 12V Laptop Charger (Toshiba or similar)
✅ XL4015 DC-DC Step Down Converter
✅ Basic Wires (22AWG or similar)
✅ Load (Fan, LED, motor, etc.)
✅ Soldering Iron + Solder Wire
✅ Connectors (e.g., Dupont, screw terminals, or JST)
🧰 Optional but Useful:
🖨️ 3D Printed Case (for safety & aesthetics)
🔩 Screws, standoffs, glue or Velcro (to fix components inside the case)
🔘 Power switch
🧤 Heat shrink tubing or electrical tape (for insulation)
📌 You only need the essential components to make the power supply functional. Optional items like the 3D-printed case make the build cleaner and safer, but they are not strictly required.
