The film Chronicles the adventures of Chinese-American Nathan and Afro-Chinese-American Alana as they search for their ancestral home in Guangdong, China. They went to kaiping and Enping villages, where their ancestors had lived for generations, visited famous diaolou, met their Chinese relatives and paid homage to their ancestors. These series of experiences made them feel deeply, seeking for the outlet of healing heart and emotional catharsis, and experiencing the history and cultural tradition of their family origin. They express their inner feelings in front of the camera, and their journey to find their roots has been a baptism of the soul.
