EncounteredHeart Youth Company Spring Performance, June 7, 2024

This performance walks through what we generally know as “The Lord’s Prayer” found in Matthew 6, when Jesus teaches his followers how to pray. He starts by saying: “This, then, is how you should pray…” and then leads them through a simple, but profound, prayer.

We all come from a variety prayer backgrounds and experiences - maybe you’re more familiar with liturgical prayers or spontaneous ones, communal prayers or personal ones…God can meet us in so many ways through prayer.

Prayer can be a beautiful encounter with the Lord, and prayer can also be mysterious and challenging when God feels distant or our prayers go unanswered.

For us as a group, we’ve been exploring what it looks like to pray through dance - inviting the Holy Spirit to join us in our movement as we pray through our bodies and aligning our heart’s with God’s as we move. Dance is a prayer language of praise, intercession, declaration and communion with the Lord and you’ll see those things in this performance. We’ve seen the transformation he has already brought to our hearts through this project as we’ve danced these prayers and our hope is that this worship experience would be a meaningful time for you to connect with the Lord through creative prayer and worship.
