This is a quick rundown of what I've been working on on my spare time the last week or so. The information comes fast and hard so be ready to pause if you want to read the tidbits on each example. Also, this is just a basic outline. It's up to you, as a player, to fill in some of the gaps yourself.
Since the video would be extremely long and wordy if I covered everything about this particular mixup, I'll detail a few key points here:
The opponents hurtbox size plays a big role in this mixup so make SURE you know your matchups and what you can use on who. Or at least know what to look for to evaluate their hurtbox size on the fly.
cr.MK xx Hadoken will combo on larger standing hurtboxes. These matchups are easier because that generally means we do NOT have to take an additional step with f.HK, either. All in all, this makes the mixup easier and more reliable.
Laura is a good example of a larger hitbox that makes our lives easier. cr.MK xx Hadoken works even on normal hit. cr.LK on hit to st.MK pressure hits. No additional step is needed for f.HK to block or hit. And we beat out her 3f jab with f.HK.
Ryu, as shown in the video, is an example where we absolutely need to be aware of our options. cr.MK xx Hadoken only works on counterhit. cr.LK to st.MK pressure whiffs on hit. f.HK only works effectively with a small step forward. His 3f jab beats an instant f.HK. Etc etc
So when you go into training vs a character, it's important to check what works and what doesn't in this case. You also need to be aware of what timing you need to adjust your options to make it work. I know this seems like a little extra work but I feel that this mixup is worth it.
Good luck and as usual, go ahead and post a comment about your own ideas on forward throws or Ken tech in general!
