Abstract:
Malware (and especially ransomware) is an endemic problem on the internet, exposing consumers and businesses to significant and serious harm, not limited to economic losses, identity theft, and fraud. In this talk, he will review some of his recent findings on where malware comes from, but more importantly, what governments can hope to achieve at a national level to minimize access to, and the impact of, malicious software. He proposes some high-level solutions to measuring, monitoring, and minimizing the impact of malware on nation-states.
