The soprano aria Aus Liebe will mein Heiland sterben is a unique and exceptionally emotional highlight from JS Bach's masterpiece, the St. Matthews Passion. This is the only aria in the piece that has no continuo but instead, two hoboes provide the foundation for the flute and soprano voice to soar.
Singing this great work by Bach is a tradition that we revisit each year in churches and concert halls. In the years that covid impacted so many lives around the world, we weren't able to sing before an audience. Our project, the "Silent Passion" was all about ensuring that Bach's music was heard nevertheless.
In the last of four installments, Monica Monteiro, soprano with @NederlandsKamerkoor performs the aria with Leon Berendse on flute and on hobo Vincent van Wijk and Esther van de Ploeg with Gerard de Wit on the organ.
