What Is Census? | Why Caste Census Is Important For India | Census Explained

After a break of 16 years, india will have its first caste based, and digital census next year.
Centre has announced the census will begin in the union territories of ladakh and jammu and kashmir, as well as himachal pradesh and uttarakhand from midnight on october 1, 2026.
Counting for the rest of the country will begin from midnight on march 1, 2027.
This is also the first since 1931 that a census will collect caste data for all communities. Watch for more.
