I'm not saying that do these and you will learn tricks. That's what tricking training is for. Instead I tell you to do these and you will have a stronger and more sturdy body which will make your tricks more powerful and you will be less likely to injure yourself.

We don't want to become powerlifters and focus on maxing our strength in just that specific range of motion. We as trickers need more diverse strength. Doing squats don't strengthen our hip flexors and do very little for hamstrings and glutes. We need more diverse movement patterns to activate them. Sure you could use machines like the hamstring curl machine but as trickers we do movements and therefore we should train according to that.

Weight training is great because it allows your body to go under heavier loads and recruit more motor units and fast twitch muscle fibers so you can actually get stronger. Even though tricking is a technical sport you need a lot of strength and explosiveness to be able to do the moves properly.

You need to be able to be flexible and strong at the same time. Your muscles must be able to be flexible and strong at the same time. Training weighted movements that are controlled and push you to your flexibility limits at the same time is a great way to emulate that. Dynamic stretching is another. Passive stretching makes you more flexible but unable to control your muscles at their peak length. For example kicking after a lot of static stretching leaves you more prone to tearing a muscle because of this. On the other hand teaching your muscles to be flexible for short periods of time under heavy loads would have an opposite effect.
