LEGENDARY MATCH | BRAZIL vs FRANCE | Men's VNL 2024. The Brazilian men's volleyball team was defeated by France by 3 sets to 2 on Sunday morning (June 23) Brasília time, in Manila (Philippines). The partial scores were 25-23, 27-29, 13-25, 25-19 and 18-16, at the end of the first phase for both teams of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2024 .

The Brazilians and the French played a game full of ups and downs on each side, which was very competitive and decided in five sets. Check out below a summary of how the men's team's last game in the first phase went.

Current Olympic champion , France started with a victory in a very balanced and disputed first set , 25 to 23. Balance and dispute that continued in the second set , in favor of Brazil at 29 to 27 .

In the third , France fell to the strong Brazilian attack and looked unrecognizable compared to the other sets, with an impressive 25-13 for Brazil and a comeback in the match: 2-1.

Andrea Giani , the Italian coach of the French team, warned his players during the break, asking them to be careful especially with the diagonal attacks of the Brazilians. It worked. In the fourth set, France forced the serve (three aces ) and made it very difficult for Brazil to receive . Combined with their strong attack , the Europeans won the set by 25 to 19 , taking the game to the fifth and final set.

The tie-break was a back and forth affair. Brazil opened up a two-point lead, but France came back to score with blocks and good defense. They turned the score around and an ace by Jouffroy gave the final score of 18-16 and the game 3 sets to 2 , in 2h07min .

"Against France it's always a long game. I think we can learn a lot from today's match," Lucarelli , Brazil's top scorer with 18 points, told Volleyball World after the game, while still on the court.
