This interview with Valdeen Sheers was part of a series entitled Using Judicial Review to Promote Access to Justice for all.
Valdeen Sheers is a journalist, mother of seven and a survivor of intimate partner violence. She is now engaged in advocacy work in Trinidad and Tobago, her home country, to end violence against women. In the interview, Valdeen talks about the abuse she suffered at the hands of her partner. She also discusses the obstacles she faced as she sought to use the justice system to protect herself and her children.
