HMS Iron Duke (F234) is a Type 23 "Duke-class" frigate, one of the Royal Navy's most versatile warships. While she was originally designed for anti-submarine warfare, her role has evolved significantly. Today, she is a multi-purpose vessel used for a wide range of tasks. These include protecting vital trade routes, supporting humanitarian aid missions, and participating in NATO exercises. She is armed with a variety of weapon systems, including a 4.5-inch gun, Sea Ceptor surface-to-air missiles, Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and Stingray anti-submarine torpedoes. She also carries a Wildcat helicopter for both anti-submarine and anti-surface roles.
