Grow Blanks: How to seal an Agave Surfboard

This useful short video gives some excellent tips on how to work with our agave blanks to get the best possible results when using agave core.
Sealing is 1st most important step in the manufacture of agave surfboards that is different to using conventional non-eco materials like EPS or PU as your core.

The same theory in coating any pours substrate like concrete, wood and agave applies.
One needs to have a thinned down penetrating primer coat first followed by the finishing coat or glass.

From experience this gives the lightest finished boards with the best adhesion of glass to agave. Giving the deepest protection to minor damages when surfing.

We also have a new Hydrophobic Agave Pre sealer that will be available soon. This is alcohol based and add's no extra weight. Like some kind of magic trick the way it repels water but accepts resin and epoxy.
This sealer is not crucial but rather another level of protection or life you can give to your agave board before it is retired as a sexy wall hanger or compost it back into your garden.
