Its been a week of hits and misses for President Cyril Ramaphosa and the ANC.
Ramaphosa’s commitment to his anti-corruption stance was badly damaged, after he announced a mini-cabinet reshuffle but chose to keep Minister Thembi Simelane in the executive despite the many serious allegations levelled against her.
Ramaphosa started his week in Limpopo where he hit the campaign trail trying to convince Thabazimbi residents to return the municipality to the party’s control.
The first citizen then headed to Cape Town to launch South Africa’s G20 presidency and then met his Nigerian counterpart to talk about diplomatic relations between the two countries.
At a party political level - the ANC continued its debate around whether or not to disband its KZN and Gauteng structures after poor electoral outcomes in those two provinces.
Then there is the threat by the SACP to go it alone in 2026 local government elections.
Here's Newzroom Afrika's senior politics reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo, with a recap of the political week that was.
