Lord Krishna's birth, known as **Krishna Janam**, is one of the most celebrated tales in Hindu mythology. Born over 5,000 years ago in Mathura, Krishna's arrival marked the end of tyranny and the dawn of righteousness. His parents, Devaki and Vasudeva, were imprisoned by Devaki's brother, the evil king Kansa. A prophecy had foretold that Devaki's eighth child would be Kansa's destroyer.
When Krishna was born at midnight on the *Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha* in the month of Bhadrapada, divine forces intervened. The prison doors miraculously opened, and the guards fell into a deep slumber. Vasudeva carried the newborn across the tumultuous Yamuna River to Gokul, where he was safely placed under the care of Yashoda and Nanda.
The river, symbolizing nature's surrender to the divine, calmed to let Vasudeva pass. Meanwhile, Yashoda's daughter, Yogmaya, took Krishna's place in Mathura. When Kansa tried to kill the child, she transformed into a goddess, warning him of his impending doom.
This miraculous tale symbolizes the ultimate triumph of good over evil and the promise of protection for the virtuous. Krishna's life and teachings continue to inspire millions around the world.
