Doctor Mario is the 11th ranked character on the last official NTSC Tier List, and even though that list was created in 2015, that would still place him solidly as a mid-tier character. In fact, most top players in today’s day and age don’t even consider Doc to be a character worth playing in a tournament setting.

But despite these seemingly apparent weaknesses, there is a Doctor Mario player who finished his last season as the Number 14 player on SoCal’s Melee Power Rankings and also took home some pretty insane tournament placements in 2019. He also just got ranked 82nd on 2019’s MPGR, becoming the most recent solo Doctor Mario main to rank in the Top 100 since the days of Shroomed’s Doc back in 2013/2014.

This guy is now the best known Doctor Mario player in the world, and he just got funded to attend 2020’s first major tournament of the year, GENESIS 7.

How is he able to hold the title as the best Doctor Mario player in the world?
