Video Explore of the Disused Gildersome railway tunnel near Leeds, UK.
The tunnel was once a mainline route into Leeds, were a fair amount of the cross-pennine expresses once thundered through. Hard to imagine that today given it current state of abandonement.. The tunnel has a dividing wall one mile in due to the construction of the M62/ M621 junction motorway built over its southern section.,wall is located near to Wakefield Road/ A650, the 4th Ventilation shaft near this wall apparently has a Gazebo in someone's Garden sat on top of it, hate to imagine falling in!.The tunnel was last in use in 1966, the river that was channeled away is now using the tunnel for its course & has deposited very colourful mineral deposits & blankets of mud throughout. There's a side chamber which is quite a rare feature. Also, One of the Vents (no 3) is still open at an Industrial Estate.
