Osteoarthritis ये सबसे ज्यादा प्रमाण में पाए जाने वाला आर्थराइटिस का type है। ये पुरुषोंसे ज्यादा महिलाँओमे अधिक पाया जाता है। Osteoporosis सबसे बड़ी वजह है जिसके कारण Osteoarthritis होता है। ये low calcium level से होता है। ऑस्टियोआर्थराइटिस जोड़ों की हड्डी पर चढ़ी कार्टिलेज की इस परत को कमजोर करता है. परिणामस्वरूप हमारे जोड़ों का सरफेस खुरदरा (rough) हो जाता है। इसकी वजह से जोड़ों में सूजन, दर्द और अकड़न होने लगती है. हालांकि ये लक्षण हर इंसान को महसूस नहीं होते हैं।

Osteoarthritis होने के कारन :
आजकल हमारी lifestyle में बोहत बदलाव आ गए है। जहा पहले लोग physical काम ज्यादा करते थे वो आज mental work करते है, इसकी वजह से हमारी body जितनी करनी चाहिए उतनी फिजिकल activity नहीं करती, repetitive काम अगर हम कर रहे हो या heavy weights से जिम्मिंग कर रहे हो तो भी यह आर्थराइटिस का कारन बन सकता है। आर्थराइटिस ज्यादातर जो हमारे weight bearing joints है। knee Osteoarthritis का एक मुख्य कारन smoking भी होता है।

कई बार यह देखा गया है की आर्थराइटिस के पेशेंट्स ग्रेड 3 तक जाने के बाद इलाज करने आते है। आर्थराइटिस इतना बढ़ जाने के बाद उसपर इलाज करना भी मुश्किल हो जाता है जिसका इलाज फिर knee replacement से ही होता है। अगर पेशेंट्स शुरू में ही डॉक्टर को consult करते है तो बेहतर इलाज हो सकता है।
