Norfolk & Western 611 and 475: Sunrise Photo Charter on The Road to Paradise (HD)

The date is October 5, 1959. The final years of N&W's steam locomotives are giving their last breath as newer diesel locomotives are replacing the famous steam locomotives. We find our self on a country branch of the N&W, somewhere in Virginia, on a cold October morning. A 4-8-0 "M" class and a 4-8-4 "J" class can be found pulling freight along the line today. Almost brand new, the J is a representation of N&W's pinnacle of steam evolution. Normally we would see J's pulling passenger trains, however today it seems that these "J" classes have been reassigned for local freight service.

In this video, Keystone Rail Productions brings you some coverage from one of the multiple Lerro Productions Photo Charters held during the "Reunion of Steam". This specific charter was the sunrise on October 5, 2019. We had a wonderful time and would surely recommend a Lerro Productions photo charter to anyone who has an opportunity to go on one. N&W 611 and 475 were both hauling freight consists akin to what they would have possibly hauled in the late 1950's, as the great N&W celebrated steam era faded away. The meet at paradise with Amtrak was modern passenger meeting the iron horses of the past and it shows the evolution of the locomotive from left to right, with 475 being built in 1906, 611 in 1950, and modern Amtrak all the way on the right. Even Strasburg Rail Road 90 was able to be spotted today, hauling normal excursions as the photo charter went on. All locomotives put on a great show today, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the reunion of N&W steam at it's finest.
