Uttar Pradesh ने अवैध Bangladeshi Muslims के लिए First Detention Center बनाया; कौन लोग जाएँगे अंदर?

उत्तर प्रदेश के पीलीभीत से लेकर उत्तराखंड के ऊधमसिंह नगर, सितारगंज, शक्तिफार्म, दिनेशपुर, बिजनौर और तराई के कई इलाकों में बसे बंगाली हिंदू शरणार्थी आज भी नागरिकता के लिए संघर्ष कर रहे हैं।

1957–58 और 1961–62 के दौरान बंगाल में हिंदुओं के खिलाफ हालात बिगड़ने पर ये लोग भारत आए थे। उस समय भारत सरकार ने पहले इन्हें कोलकाता के डिटेंशन कैंप में रखा और बाद में पीलीभीत, ऊधमसिंह नगर, लखीमपुर खीरी, बिजनौर और महाराष्ट्र के कुछ हिस्सों में बसाया।

इन परिवारों के पास सीमा पार करने की रसीदें और डिटेंशन कैंप से जुड़े कई दस्तावेज़ मौजूद हैं, लेकिन आज उनकी तीसरी पीढ़ी भी नागरिकता पाने के लिए सरकारी दफ्तरों के चक्कर काट रही है। कुछ को नागरिकता मिली है, लेकिन अधिकांश लोग अब भी कागज़ी उलझनों में फंसे हैं।

इस ग्राउंड रिपोर्ट में हमने पीलीभीत के निओरिया इलाके से इन शरणार्थी परिवारों की आवाज़ उठाई है, जो न सिर्फ पीलीभीत बल्कि पूरे तराई क्षेत्र के लाखों लोगों की कहानी है।

From Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh to Udham Singh Nagar, Sitarganj, Shaktifar, Dineshpur in Uttarakhand and parts of Bijnor, thousands of Bengali Hindu refugee families are still struggling to obtain Indian citizenship.

These families migrated to India during 1957–58 and again in 1961–62 after violence and instability forced them to leave Bengal. At that time, the Government of India first kept them in detention camps in Kolkata and later resettled them in the Terai regions of Pilibhit, Udham Singh Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bijnor and parts of Maharashtra.

Despite having border-crossing receipts and detention camp documents, the third generation of these refugees is still running from office to office for citizenship. While some have received citizenship, many remain stuck in bureaucratic hurdles.

This ground report from Neoria area of Pilibhit highlights a long-pending humanitarian issue affecting lakhs of refugee families across the Terai belt.
