Hello everyone, in today's video we will be discussing the disappearance of 3 hikers. 1 went missing in 1933, the other 2 went missing in 1949 in the same spot in Rocky Mountain National Park ( the area of FlattopMountain) . None of them have ever been found.
The first to go missing was Joseph L Halpern (22) on August 15, 1933 in the Estes part of Rocky Mountain National Park.
He was hiking with a friend Sam Garrick when they hiked from their camp at Bear lake to the top of Flattop Mountain. It was at this point the two bent separated because Joseph wanted to keep hiking to Taylor Peak but Sam wasn't feeling up to it so hiked back down to camp arriving at 6:30pm with no sign of Joseph.
His nephew Roland Halpern has been responsible for keeping this investigation going and stated: "I found letters that show his father, Bernard, quietly kept searching for his little brother. Decades later, he was still writing pleas to the National Park Service and the FBI director.
"Really, I'm just trying to find closure for my father. ... When I started reading through some of the letters he had sent, you could sense the passion, the frustration," Roland said.
I truly hope he gets the answers he's looking for🙏
16 years after Joseph L Halpern disappeared, 2 young men, in October of 1949, Bruce Gerling and David Devitt disappeared when they got separated from their group of 9 while hiking from Grand lake to Bear Lake. Unfortunately due to miscommunication and other factors, no one even realized they were missing until 40 hours later.
None of these young men were ever found. None of their belongings or any clues have ever been found and these 3 disappearances are considered the most mysterious unsolved disappearances in Rocky Mountain National Park history.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his relatives and family that still want to know what happened to their loved ones🙏
Thank you for watching!
