Is it even a walk in the New Zealand bush if the dogs don't make you look completely out of shape?
In today’s adventure, I’m taking Hugo and Ziggy out to a not so well known river track for a much-needed bush walk and a swim. While I was busy navigating storm damage, crossing slips, and "working on my fitness" (it's a long, slow process!), the dogs were busy showing me exactly how it's done.
From jumping over fallen trees to cooling off in the local swimming hole, this is the reality of hiking in the NZ bush with two high-energy dogs. We wrap things up with a well-earned lunch, an apple for Hugo, and a cold beer at the end of the day.
Both dogs have the appropriate DOC permits and are Avian avoidance trained to be allowed in this area.
