Barrowford was an important textile centre, with mills powered by water.
Before this, handloom weavers beavered away and some of their cottages are thankfully still a feature of the present village with many now converted into independent boutiques. Local artist exhibits their work at Pendle Heritage Centre and work from studios in Higherford Mill.
There is a lot to discover in Barrowford it is one of Lancashire's hidden gems.
