Ignatian spirituality is an effective means to a heightened awareness of God’s presence in one’s life. It nurtures a deep and personal connection with God that influences every aspect of a person’s daily life. Guided by the Ignatian spiritual tradition, Jesuit schools offer their students opportunities to encounter God. For this mission to be truly integrated across the school, adults in the community must first be open to experiencing God’s active presence in their own lives. This personal encounter enables them to guide students more authentically and effectively.
Lori Stanley is Executive Director of Loyola Institute for Spirituality in Orange, CA. She discusses how Ignatius’ own experience of encountering God is lived out in Ignatian spirituality, and how it can lead our students and us into similar encounters. Following her presentation, Terra Caputo, Jennie Kuenz, and Jackie Schulte share their responses.
