There is a clear recommendation here:
Resurrection should only be done on mercenaries and monsters. You can only get these in the store through packages or monsters with dragon coins. These are very rare and therefore expensive to buy in the store.
Resurrecting guardsmen, specialists, catapults and spies with gold and/or holy potions is far too expensive!
Therefore, these troops should always be retrained.
A package with silver is cheaper or brings you back more troops than a package with holy potions.
