You can create very interesting patterns when using one sample or loop and placing it over different tracks, playing different sequences. The advantage of this technique is that you don’t need to think about tuning, since the song is already in key. It’s a very simple and basic approach of sampling that we sometimes forget, but it’s very effective.
I also pitched some tracks up an octave to add more variation.
I also really love this record from Keiko Maruyama. When I first listened to it, I knew it was one of those records that just works on a sampler.

PS: I think Youtube is normalizing the audio every time when the kick comes in. You can hear the volume dropping a bit, which is a bummer.
