✨ Explanation ✨
1️⃣ The て form is used to link words.
For example, you might have heard of 行って来ます [ittekimasu]. It combines the word 行く ("go") with 来る ("come"), and means that you will go and come back! That's why people say it when leaving the house.
To link the two words, we use the て form of 行く — 行って.
2️⃣ て + いる tells you that something is happening.
食べる means to eat, and 食べている means that one is in the midst of eating.
3️⃣ The て form song ignores Group II verbs, or 一段 [ichidan], verbs. That's because they can be conjugated simply by replacing る with て.
E.g.
食べる becomes 食べて
寝る becomes 寝て
起きる becomes 起きて
