Hi, welcome to Deaf Talks News.
Abdul Rahim is an auto driver from Kozhikode, Kerala.
He went to Saudi Arabia in 2006 and was employed as a house driver of a Saudi citizen and as the caretaker of a 15- year-old disabled boy.
One day, while travelling with the boy he stopped the vehicle at a red light.
When the boy asked Rahim to violate the red signal, he accidentally hit and dislodged the tube of a life-support device attached to the boy's body.
Unfortunately, the boy died.
As a result, he was arrested and imprisoned, and the court of that country sentenced him to death.
Meanwhile, the boy's family has agreed to receive Rs 34 crore as compensation for his death.
Following this, his friends started a joint fund-raising process by establishing a cell phone application called 'Save Abdul Rahim'.
In this case, the funds arrived in excess of the Rs 34 crore fixed last week.
Regarding this, Abdul Rahim's mother, Fatima, said, "I am eagerly waiting for my son's arrival after 18 years.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's message on the X website said that the spirit of Malayalis shines always.
Because raising Rs 34 crore is not easy, but we people did it.
Thank you to everyone who joined hands for this humanitarian cause.
We will continue to share the true Kerala story of unity, compassion, and truth,” he posted.
