NCAA D3 Women's Cross Country National Championship

The 2025 NCAA D3 National Cross Country Championship took place on November 22 at Milliken Arboretum in Spartanburg, South Carolina. *Disclaimer: I did not announce this event. It was held in my hometown of Spartanburg, SC and being the XC fan I am, I took in the day as a fan and spectator.

The women raced second this year, following the men. With the gun going off at 11:00 a.m. in South Carolina, the temperature and humidity had risen significantly, especially for a fall day. With many of the teams coming from a milder climate, the conditions would certainly affect the race’s outcome.
The top 20 women averaged 5:48 pace-per-mile or better, with the champion averaging 5:27 pace-per-mile, on the rolling terrain of the Milliken Arboretum…truly one of the most beautiful courses in the country.

The individual title was never in doubt, assuming that the heat did not disrupt her race plan; Audrey Maclean of Middlebury went right to the front. The junior was never challenged, winning the NCAA D3 National Cross Country Championship by a wide margin of 49 seconds. Maclean’s winning time of 20:16 for 6K was an average of 5:27 pace-per-mile for the 3.7 mile course. Jules Bleskowski (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) came across the line for runner-up. Claire Anderson (Washington & Jefferson) was the first senior to finish, coming in third with a time of 21:13.

Having run the Milliken course earlier in the season at the Eye Opener Invitational, paid off for New York University as the Bobcats had a solid performance to win the team title with 79 points. Their top three runners scored 6, 8, 9 and had a three second spread to seal the win.
