On December 6, 2025, a tragic fire broke out at Birch by Romeo Lane — a popular nightclub in Arpora, Goa — killing 25 people. Days later, police have detained Ajay Gupta, one of the co-owners of the club, after a Look-Out Circular was issued for him. When confronted, Gupta claimed he was just a “sleeping partner” with no involvement in the day-to-day operations or safety management, and blamed the tragedy on the other owners.
