This is my fix for a Edifer W830BT headband which has broken from the earpiece. The cause of the break is a piece of plastic that usually holds the headband in place, breaks and then the headband slips out of the earpiece connection.
I used a 3/16 e-clip, a 1.5 mm hex key, a flat blade, and a number 1 Philips.
I take the long way to fix this, as you can technically just unscrew the piece near the ear and pry it apart and slip in an e-clip and some adhesive and hope that fixes it, but the video shows a longer way about things that should give you enough space if you need it.
So far it's worked for a couple of days, I'm not planning on running or sleeping in them, but the e-clip has held just fine for me. Likely if I had a set of GOOD snap-ring pliers a cir clip or snap ring would do just as well if not better than the e-clip.
-It's been a month, ear phones still work with the e-clip great. Still not treating them like they are rock solid, but I have not babied them either. E-clip is a solid fix.
-Edit Oct/18/21 earphones still work fine, not so babied anymore. Fix is super solid for me. Would say as solid as new unless you just smash your earphones into things on the regular. Or unless you've broken the plastic stalk entirely.
-Edit March/14/23 fix is still fine, I don't baby them anymore, but I've also since needed to replace the USB port.
-Edit October/18/24 fix is still fine. Even bought another pair, which I also had to fix. My daughter uses them now and she isn't gentle on them. Popping off the ear-piece foam and then undoing the two screws near the top of the headband hole and sliding in a 3/16 inch e-clip is still by far the quickest way to repair in my opinion.
Also if you need to replace the micro-usb port, the left most pin looking top down onto the mother board is the power pin, the rest are ground. So as long as you have the left most pin and trace, you can replace it. Otherwise you need to run a bodge wire to the capacitor. Use a hot air rework station to remove it, with Kapton tape to hold down the small capacitors.
