If you’re having this issue, keep watching to fix it. This happens because your AirTag can only be linked to one Apple ID at a time.

You can’t use it with multiple accounts.

To fix this, you must remove the Apple ID already connected to your AirTag.
The first step is to Remove the AirTag from the Current Apple ID. Using the iPhone that’s currently linked to the AirTag. Open the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad.

We can't remove it from Other Apple Devices like Mac's Find My App, icloud.com web version . For privacy reasons, we can remove it from iPhone or iPad's Find My App.

At the bottom, you’ll see Remove Item, Tap that.

A pop-up will ask if you want to remove the AirTag from your Apple ID.
Tap Remove,
You’ll hear a sound from the AirTag, and now it’s ready to be connected to your new Apple ID.
Now that the AirTag is disconnected, you can connect it to your new Apple ID.
The second step is to Connect the AirTag to your Apple ID. Once the AirTag is unlinked, keep it close to your iPhone.

If you don’t see the pop-up immediately, lock and unlock your iPhone to trigger it.
Once the pop-up appears, tap Connect.
You’ll be prompted to choose a name for your AirTag.
Select the name or customize it, then tap Continue.
You should now see the AirTag listed under Items in the Find My app, successfully paired with your new Apple ID.
If AirTag is not connected to your Apple ID, you can not fix the problem.

you can contact the previous owner and ask them to remove the AirTag from their Apple ID before you try to connect it.
Once the AirTag is removed, Open the Find My app on your iPhone to pair it with your Apple ID.
While the AirTag doesn’t have to be connected via Bluetooth for this process, ask them to remove the AirTag from their account so you can connect it to yours.
