Alternator (generator) change on a Jaguar XJ8 (X308)

In this video, I tackle the fitting of a new alternator (generator) to our 2002 Jaguar XJ8 (X308 type). This footage first appeared as part a much longer progress update about our 2002 Jaguar XJ8, but as this is a job that many XJ8/X308 owners might have to tackle, I thought it deserved its own specific upload to make it easier to find for anyone else facing the same task on their V8 Jaguar.
This isn't a "how to fit a new alternator on a Jaguar X308" type video, more it shows how I, as an amateur, went about the job of changing the alternator for a new replacement on my driveway only using basic tools.
There are two or three ways of fitting a new alternator to a Jaguar V8 like this (I imagine the job on a similarly-engined XK8 is similar), and this video isn't a recommendation in itself, just a notebook on how I went about it, and some of the challenges that you might face.
For the record, the replacement alternator is a Denso unit, which is the same as Jaguar originally fitted. My car is a 3.2 Sport registered in early 2002 (despite what the registration number suggests), and I would imagine that the work is similar to that required on any X308 series Jaguar with either the 3.2 or 4.0 V8 engine. Access to the engine on the supercharged XJR may be slightly different, especially at the top end/under the bonnet.
Nothing shown here is to be taken as a recommended way of doing things on this old Jaguar, just how I went about the alternator/generator swap. If you're really not confident in taking on the job yourself, or don't have sufficient tool/time/space to do the alternator change, I'd recommend finding a pro who does this kind of thing day in, day out, as if something goes wrong - for example a bolt shears off - then you're in to a lot more work potentially. Don't blame me if it goes wrong!
