पिछली दीपावली की अवकाशावधि में मैं अपने मामा के घर पुणे गया था। उन्हीं दिनों नगर के प्रसिद्ध मैदान में एक विशाल प्रदर्शनी आयोजित की गई थी। एक संध्या मामा जी हमें, मुझे और मेरे ममेरे भाई रोमिल को वहाँ घुमाने ले गए।

प्रदर्शनी का प्रवेशद्वार अत्यंत आकर्षक था। चारों ओर रंग-बिरंगी रोशनी से सजावट की गई थी। टिकट खिड़की पर लोगों की लंबी कतार लगी थी। मामा जी ने हमारे लिए टिकट खरीदे और हम उत्साह से भीतर गए।

अंदर पहुँचकर हमने अनेक मंडपों को देखा। सबसे बड़ा मंडप कपड़ों का था। वहाँ विभिन्न प्रकार की साड़ियाँ और सूट इतने सुंदर थे कि सभी दर्शक मंत्रमुग्ध हो जाते थे। उसके पास ही घड़ियों का मंडप था जहाँ आधुनिक डिज़ाइन और रंग-बिरंगी घड़ियाँ प्रदर्शित थीं। इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स मंडप में टीवी, कंप्यूटर, मोबाइल और अन्य स्मार्ट उपकरण देखकर हमें अत्यधिक आनंद हुआ। मशीनों के मंडप में खेती और उद्योग से जुड़ी नवीनतम मशीनें रखी थीं। कला मंडप में मनमोहक चित्रकला और शिल्पकला की झलक मिल रही थी।

प्रदर्शनी में अनेक दुकानें भी थीं। खिलौने, गहने, सजावटी वस्तुएँ, बर्तन तथा विविध उपयोगी सामान बिक रहे थे। वहाँ का वातावरण सचमुच जीवंत लग रहा था।

मनोरंजन के लिए झूले, चरखी, मिनी ट्रेन और जादू का कार्यक्रम आयोजित था। हमने मिनी ट्रेन की सवारी की और बहुत आनंद उठाया। रोमिल को चरखी में बैठना अधिक अच्छा लगा। वहाँ खाने-पीने के स्टॉल भी थे। मामा जी ने हमें कुल्फी और पॉपकॉर्न खिलाए जिनका स्वाद आज भी स्मरण है।

धीरे-धीरे संध्या ढलने लगी और हम सब थकान अनुभव करने लगे। किंतु हृदय प्रसन्न और संतोष से भर गया था। यह प्रदर्शनी की सैर मेरे जीवन की एक मनोरम और अविस्मरणीय स्मृति बन गई। उसी खुशी के साथ हम घर लौट आए।
