Castelnou is a medieval village in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of southern France. It's located in the Aspres, about 25 minutes from Perpignan and close to the Spanish border. Castelnou is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France and Catalonia, and is known for its cobblestone streets, ancient stone houses, and the Castle of Castelnou.
The castle was built in 990 by the Viscount of Castelnou and offers self-guided tours that last about 1.5 hours. The reception provides free audio guides in English and French for smartphones and tablets. Other attractions in Castelnou include Roc de Majorque and Roc de Mallorca.
