$55 Tackle Challenge – Trolling for Walleye on Lake Erie

What do you get when you mix a $55 budget, an awesome grandpa, and two totally different fishing styles? One epic walleye tackle challenge—right here on Lake Erie!

My grandpa and I headed to @SAILPLEINAIROUTDOORS with a mission: each of us had just $55 CAD to spend on tackle, and whatever we picked had to be the only gear we used to target Lake Erie walleye in Long Point Bay. No backups. No cheating. Just what fit in our SAIL trays.

I went for quality over quantity—a crankbait, a worm harness, and a couple spoons I really believed in. Grandpa? He went full volume, loading up on as many spoons as he could grab. Two styles. Two trays. One boat. And one challenge: who could put more walleye in the livewell?

We hit the lake and put our SAIL gear to the test… and let’s just say, we caught our full walleye limit in under 2 hours! 😮🎣 But who actually won? You’ll have to watch to find out.
