After the fall of the Göktürk Khaganate in 630 CE, the Turkic world was shattered into many parts. As a result of foreign invasions as well as internal strife, the Turks created many new autonomous states. Thus, the Khazars, Syr Tardush, the Yabgus of Tokhara and the Türk Shahi in Afghanistan were born. But did they manage to repel the invaders from Turkic territory? Did they get along well? Where was the Ashina dynasty, and what ever happened to the dreams of restoring their Khaganate?
