While rummaging through the city dump for something edible, Mochi and McQueen find only a few pieces of stale bread, which they take home to share with the slum dwellers. Suddenly, a gang of rat criminals bursts into the house, demanding protection money and dragging McQueen down into the sewers. There, an old rat witch uses magic to transform him into Train McQueen and orders a pack of rats to take over the city and rob a bank. Under heavy fire, Train McQueen transports the stolen gold and battles the police in the streets.
When Mochi hears what is happening, he steps in to stop the train as it rampages through the city. Their bond breaks the witch’s curse: Train McQueen awakens, attacks the rats, and pushes them underground, leaving the gold behind. The curse is broken; McQueen returns to his original form and goes home with Mochi. Only then do they discover one final surprise — a gold bar hidden inside McQueen’s cabin, the last ray of hope for their starving neighbors.
