Wonderful weather for a spot of late winter gardening. I've been gardening all weekend in glorious sunshine and a vicious cold wind but feel much rejuvenated and have proper colour in my cheeks for the first time since the autumn. Join me for some vitamin D, mulching the roses, giving the perennial grasses a hair cut, measuring the space I have for new planting, a quick mow of the piggery for a feeling of tidy, potting on cuttings which have overwintered in the greenhouse, checking the germination rate of my seedlings and the first proper water of the poly tunnels since late autumn. What a great weekend! Instead of feeling over-whelmed I've remembered how much I can get done in a short time with a little focus and a good list.
Flower farming is an endurance sport, but a weekend like this reminds me that I'm fit enough for it (even at my old age,) and that the reason I'm a flower farmer is that I do love to grow stuff.
The best bit of this clip has to be the loud birdsong joining in towards the end when I'm talking about mowing and I'm showing you my mini forest garden where the spring bulbs are shooting under late-summer perennials.
Thanks for joining in, and if you enjoy the clip do please buy me a coffee! Thank you x
