Let’s test drive and review the 2025 Cadillac Optiq!

The Optiq is an electric SUV, and it’s of new vehicles under Cadillac’s IQ brand, which is all-electric and mostly signified by model names ending in “-iq.” Joining the Optiq are models like the Lyriq, Vistiq, and Celestiq. The only departure from this rule is the Cadillac Escalade IQ, and I think that’s for the best. The Optiq is a two-row, five-seat compact crossover, and it’s the cheapest car in Cadillac’s new electric lineup (which gets expensive). It comes standard with a 19-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, and that’s my favorite part.

The Optiq has one major downside: the loss of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Instead, you get basic Bluetooth phone connection and use Google Maps and your music apps through the screen. If you have a subscription to Amazon Music or Spotify, you probably won’t notice. If you don’t, it could leave a big hole in your routine.

The Optiq is the base Cadillac EV right now with a starting price of about $53,000 USD, and it shares a platform with the Chevy Equinox EV. Every Optiq has a 85-kilowatt-hour battery pack and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, making 300 horsepower, 354 pound-feet of torque, and a Cadillac-estimated 302 miles of range.

There are currently only two trims of the Optiq: Luxury and Sport, which have similar prices but slightly different styling. The Luxury trim has bright chrome accents on the outside, like this car, while the Sport is more blacked-out. Luxury-trimmed Optiq SUVs get the option for a royal blue paint color called Coastal Blue Metallic, while the Sport’s special paint color is a bright-lava shade called Monarch Orange. (I like the orange the most.)

The Cadillac Optiq in this video is a 2025 model in what’s called the “Luxury 2” trim. It starts at $55,000, and it has several options. The first is called the “Onyx package,” and it’s $4,000. It comes with 21-inch black alloy wheels, puddle lamps, and vader chrome mirror caps. The next option is a $1,225 coat of Crystal White Tricoat paint; then the $1,100 Autumn Canyon interior; and finally, a $600 black roof. After options and fees, the total price of this car comes to $63,510. If you’re speccing one, let me assist you: The base is great. You don’t need the extras.
