I went rock fishing at Yarra Bay on a beautiful day, hoping for some big bites! My original plan was to float fish and cast out whole pilchards and yakka on one rod, but it got me nothing! Instead of giving up, I adapted...
I switched over to a running sinker rig and started cubing pilchards, and it worked! I started catching a few smaller fish like bream, tarwhine, trevally, and even a pinky (juvenile snapper).
To finish off the session, I switched to my light rod and tried some squid jigs, and boom! Managed to land a decent squid to wrap up the day
If you enjoy rock fishing, bait experiments, and adapting your technique to get results, this is for you!
