Austro-Hungarian Empire: After the Congress of Berlin in 1878, Bosnia and Herzegovina came under the control of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Yugoslavia: After World War I, Bosnia and Herzegovina became part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and later the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
War in the 1990s: After the breakup of Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina declared independence. This led to the Bosnian War (1992–1995), marked by intense ethnic conflicts among Bosniaks, Croats, and Serbs. The war ended with the Dayton Peace Agreement in 1995.
