jazz video 2

This is the second video in the series, the reason why I published this one is because it gives a good impression of the jam sessions on Borra evenings, a large audience and all kinds of musicians who happened to be there played there, there was no fixed program .. you didn't know who would come and what they would play... that made the evenings so special..
and then suddenly there was a traverse flute player... it's a bit a rare instrument for jazz music. In the past I met a few times Ronald Snijders, but that was it..
So I had to publish this player.

About this "found in my archive" video series:
It actually started when the Dutch Literary Museum came to collect boxes full of archive material from me. Then I thought that if such an important museum is interested in it, maybe I should do something more with it. That was the reason for our YT series about making exhibitions.
But despite the fact that a small truck full of material has since gone to a few museums, I still have an archive, mainly with photos and videos. I never paid much attention to it because the quality is very amateurish.
But not long ago I became friends with Lung-chih Chang, the new director of the National Museum of Taiwan History. Of course he wanted to know more about my visit to Taiwan at the time.
When I was invited by Philips and KLM to Taiwan in the early nineties to realize an exhibition and regularly wandered around Taipei, I of course had my camera with me, it was my first visit to Asia and for me it was all special. When I showed Lung-chih Chang the photos, it turned out that I had taken photos of a rather unusual event by chance and the photos are now included in their archive. A few months ago I was talking to a jazz enthusiast about jazz in Amersfoort and we naturally ended up with pianist and composer Thijs Borsten. I told him that years ago, when I had just bought a video camera, I had made recordings of Thijs' Thursday evening Borra jazz jam sessions as an introduction to the device. That friend really wanted to hear them and so I asked Thijs if he would mind if I published the unedited tapes on our YT channel, and Thijs thought that was a great idea.
And the result is this video series with historical recordings and photos from my archive.
The photo with Willem Borra in front of his café was made available by the editors of "De Stad Amersfoort".

To my shame I have to say that I know the musicians who played along well, but I can't remember their names. Who knows: there is enough space under the video, my thanks for that.
This is the second video in the series, I thought maybe the first one is too long, so I cut it in two parts and then I will see the result. Thank you for watching it and thanks to Thijs allowing us to publish it, and several people have let me know they really likes it. But they write in FB groups ... they should mention it it here on YT .. ;)
